Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is included in your web design pricing, and are there recurring costs?
All custom website builds are one-time, project-based investments—there are no forced monthly lock-ins to launch your website.
Mandatory recurring annual costs include your cloud hosting, domain registration, an automated ADA compliance widget, and any licensed photography/videography.
Optional ongoing services, such as monthly technical maintenance (from $800/mo) and local trade SEO (from $1,000/mo), are billed separately and detailed on this page.
-
How does the payment schedule work?
Every website build is billed against the project phases, so you always know what triggers an invoice:
- 10% holding fee — due when you book ahead. Locks your start date and is credited toward Phase 1.
- 60% at Phase 1 — due when the project begins (50% if you paid the holding fee).
- 25% at Phase 3 — due when we move into build.
- 15% at Phase 4 — due 15 days before launch. The site goes live once it clears.
I don't offer in-house financing or monthly payment plans. If you need to spread the cost, PayPal's Buy Now, Pay Later is available at checkout and their terms apply.
-
Do you offer discounts or incentives for paying upfront?
Yes. We offer two distinct discount paths (non-combinable, valid through December 31, 2026):
Paid-in-Full Discount: Pay 100% upfront at contract signing to receive 5% to 10% off (depending on package tier) and priority scheduling to launch your project queue within 3 business days.
Service Discount: A flat 15% discount for active military, veterans, law enforcement, and first responders with valid credentials upon upfront payment.
-
Who actually builds my site? Do you outsource or use offshore teams?
I do. The person you talk to on the first call is the person who writes your strategy, designs your pages, builds the site, and answers your emails after launch. No account manager, no handoff to a production team, no offshore build shop working from a brief I wrote and then walked away from.
That matters more than it sounds. Most of what goes wrong on a website project happens in the gaps — the designer who never heard what you said on the discovery call, the developer who built exactly what the mockup showed but not what you meant. When one person carries the project from start to finish, there are no gaps to fall into.
For large projects that need extra hands, I have a team of specialists I've worked with for years — photographers, industry copywriters, developers for custom integrations. I bring them in openly; I stay in charge of the work, and you'll know who they are. As a seasoned designer and brand strategist, I don't work with junior designers, and I don't hand your project to anyone I wouldn't trust to put my name on it. Nothing is white-labeled or passed off as mine when it isn't.
-
How far in advance do I need to book my project?
Two months minimum. Most projects are booked two to eleven months out, and the calendar is filled in the order deposits are received. A 10% holding deposit locks your start date and is credited toward your Phase 1 payment, so it's not an added cost — it's the first piece of your project balance paid early. Without it, the slot stays open to the next client who pays.
The holding deposit is tied to your scheduled start date and expires when that month arrives. If you're not ready to begin, rescheduling requires an additional 10% holding deposit to reserve a new date.
If you need to start inside the two-month window, I can sometimes make it work, but it comes with a rush fee of 50–100% on top of the project price. That covers rescheduling committed work or extending hours to keep every project on track.
The best first step is the free 30-minute call. I'll tell you exactly where the next opening is, and you can decide whether to hold it.
-
Why is a deposit required, and how does it apply to my project?
A holding deposit is what puts your project on my calendar. Once it's paid, that slot is yours — I turn away other work to hold it, so the holding deposit makes that commitment fair to both sides.
This applies only to projects booked ahead. The 10% holding deposit locks your start date and is credited toward the Phase 1 payment, so it's not an extra cost — it's the first piece of your project balance paid early. If you're starting right away, there's no holding deposit; the 60% Phase 1 payment covers it, and work begins when it clears.
Holding deposits are tied to your scheduled start date and expire when that month arrives. If you're not ready to begin, rescheduling requires an additional 10% holding deposit to reserve a new date. Holding deposits are non-refundable — if your plans change, the deposit covers the time I blocked off and the work I turned down to hold the date.
-
Can we meet in person before getting started?
Yes. Every project starts with a free 30-minute Zoom call — that's where we figure out whether the fit is right before either of us commits time or money. If you'd rather meet face to face, I'm happy to do that too. My office on Crockett Street in Fort Worth is by appointment only, and on-site visits to your location are available for an additional fee. For out-of-state meetings, the client covers business-class travel.
Most clients find the video call is all they need to make a decision. It covers the same ground as an in-person meeting and gets you answers on scheduling and pricing faster. But if seeing the person you're hiring matters to you, say so on the call, and we'll set it up.
-
Can I expedite my delivery date with a rush fee?
Sometimes. If the calendar allows it, I can move your project up or compress the timeline for a rush fee of 50–100% on top of the project price. The exact rate depends on how much scheduled work needs to be moved to make room — that's what the fee covers.
Two things to know before you ask. First, a rush fee buys my hours, not a shortcut through the process. The strategy, design, and testing still happen; they just happen in a shorter window. Second, a rushed timeline only works if you can keep pace with it. Content, approvals, and feedback that take a week on a normal project have to come back in a day or two. If you can't commit to that, the rush fee won't get you the date.
If you're on a hard deadline, bring it up on the free 30-minute call. I'll tell you straight whether it's doable and what it costs.
-
What is your policy on late milestone payments?
Payments are due on the date shown on the invoice, and each phase is funded by the payment for the previous phase — so a late payment pauses the project until it clears. While it's paused, your slot isn't held, and your launch date shifts accordingly.
Every late payment carries a $150 late fee. After three late payments on a single project, I may treat the project as abandoned and terminate it under the contract. Money paid to that point is retained per the Refund Policy.
Ps. If something comes up on your end, tell me before the due date. A heads-up buys flexibility; silence doesn't.
