Business is a marathon not a sprint.
I want to start this blog post by saying. Stop listening to mentors and begin doing the work to get you noticed. Everywhere you go these days someone on social media, your parents, friends, and family are telling you what you are doing wrong. The problem with that is none of them are running a successful business or even a business at that. They have no idea what it takes to start and run a business. All the permits and licenses you need. How much you need to withhold for taxes at a federal or state level. They don't, so why would you listen to them? If you need to find mentors -- follow someone in your space who is doing things so massive, so disruptive and learn from them.
Sadly, I've had to learn this on early in my career; seeking advice from people that are not business owners drove me into spiral thinking I need to be something I wasn't. It's hard to live off the expectations of others. One thing I had to learn was that instant gratification doesn't work in a creative business. Everyone wants to scale quickly, start charging 10X, and fly in Gulfstreams. The problem with that idea -- your inefficiency will scale faster than your business. Year 1-5 scale in steady progress by fixing those problems. Find people to connect who are at your level to see what problems they encountered and how they fixed it. Find people who are ahead of you, and that can help you manage those pitfalls. Find people who are doing things on such a scale that you can seem to understand that you can also do it with patience and time.
Final thoughts - every season has a new chapter, every chapter is a brand new story, and how you write that story is solely up to you. Don't be in a hurry to crash and burn. Fail fast, get up, learn, and grow!
